First Eat

If I don't really like cereal, why do I keep eating it every morning? This morning: herbal tea, banana, boiled egg, and a roll. Mmmmm. Yummy. My morning went a lot better with this in my tummy instead of the usual blah cereal I eat. Maybe I need to branch out in the kids of cereals I buy. What are some of your favorite breakfast foods?

Now that it's turning fall, I'm back into oatmeal, cracked wheat - or anything hot cereal. I did a lot of boiled eggs in the summer. I loved that I could do a batch of eight and save the left-overs for the next morning. I've also started saving and reheating leftover oatmeal too which saves me a pan to wash every once and a while. Mornings are special. When we put a little more care into what we eat in the mornings I think it can carry over and help put a little more care into the rest of the day. I think your breakfast of herbal tea, boiled egg, & banana sounds just right. And really, not much more work than a bowl of cold cereal (not that there's anything wrong with that), just a little more thought. Shall I go on? Point being, enjoy the morning any way you can.

I used to dislike cereal too, but now I really like it again. Since I don't wake up feeling hungry, I figure a high-fiber cereal is a low-calorie way for me to start the day. I usually eat Frosted Mini-Wheats, Wheat Chex, or Honey Bunches - adding extra granola. And sometimes a banana.

The boys get sick of the same daily foods, so they switch it up between cereal/granola, omelets, or oatmeal, plus a fruit.

I'd have to force something like tea down in the morning. I prefer to curl up with herbal tea on a cold evening, mmmm.

Scratchy Pancakes of course!!!
1 1/4 cups flour (can be white or wheat)
1 Tbsp. (or 3 tsp.) Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 to 1 1/2 cups milk
2 Tbsp. oil
Mix dry ingredients together. Add egg and liquid. Mix to a smooth batter and cook on a hot surface. This will make 10-12 pancakes and they are best on the first day, but the batter can be stored in the fridge.
You must have this with Daddy Syrup!
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. Mapeline (imitation maple flavoring)
1 tsp. Imitation vanilla
Add sugar, water, Mapeline, and vanilla to saucepan. Bring the water/sugar mixture to a full boil. Watch it so it doesn’t boil over. Make sure the sugar dissolves, but doesn't burn! Makes 2 1/4 cups.
There's a cute story that goes along with the names, but I can tell you later. Natalee has this for breakfast about 3-4 times a week.

I love waffels - not practical for everyday but I make sure to make them every other weekend or so. I am way boring in the morning - either toast or a friut/protien shake as I run out the door to work. I am excited for winter though - I like hot cereal more.
